Under2 Coalition:
Further Faster Together

The Under2 Coalition are the largest supernational network of states and regions committed to reducing emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. They bring together over 270 governments representing 1.75 billion people and 50% of the global economy.

They approached us to create a new identity and suite of infographic based climate action commitments.

The identity needed to support and raise the scale of 68 state, regional and city governments as they affirmed their urgent commitment to addressing the climate crisis by signing up to a range of cross-sector actions ahead of 2030. This is part of a global call from non-state actors in recognition of the increased impacts of climate change and their critical role in addressing it.

Convening at COP26, governments from the Under2 Coalition, U.S. Climate Alliance and C40 acknowledged the need to move beyond 2050 targets and focus on the short-term actions to reach them in order to keep global temperature rises to 1.5°C. This means taking measures across all sectors to drive down emissions and protect biodiversity. States and regions are often closer to the effects of climate change but are also in

a position to move further and faster to deliver on ambitious targets than their counterpart national governments.

The range of actions announced cover: Inter-governmental cooperation and planning, Built environment, Clean transportation, Energy, Environmental justice, Nature-based solutions, Waste and Agriculture.

Each commitment is reflected with bespoke iconography within a central hero graphic and are also separated out into stand-alone graphics for each sector to demonstrate members’ actions. Our designs needed to reflect pace, urgency, unique actions and signatories making firm commitments.

The assets were deployed during the Under2 National Assembly on leading transformed action together event at COP26 in Glasgow hosted by key speakers including Washington State Governor Jay Inslee and First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon.
